Work Incentives Specialist Advocate

(WISA)

 

Gwendolyn Taylor is a Work Incentive Practitioner certified by Cornell University. For over 9 years,she has assisted people with disabilities.

As a DARS partner, and with a referral from a counselor, we provide Work Incentives Specialist Advocacy (WISA) services to Social Security Administration disability beneficiaries (SSI, SSDI, CDB) who are:

  • Planning to start or return to work.
  • Planning to accept or seek a higher paying job.
  • Have questions about the regulations that protect their benefits while they test their ability to work.

After obtaining a Benefits Planning Query (BPQY), we meet individually with beneficiaries and discuss how working will impact their benefits, as well as, how disposable income will be increased as they work. We also provide assistance with understanding and utilizing work incentives such as: 1619 (b), Student Eared Income Exclusion (SEIE), Impairment Related Work Expense (IRWE) Subsidy and plan for Achieving SELF Support (PASS).
